Two hands hold an ornate, geometric metal stencil with gold and red patterns. A colorful, blurred background is visible behind the stencil.

Underneath/ Overlooked

A touring exhibition from artists  Penny Bovell and Gabby Howlett

Free entry.

At Beverley Station Art Gallery from 15th August to 4th October. The gallery is open Thursday – Sunday, 9:30am – 4pm

In the 1950s, Italian immigrants Giuseppe and Anna Scolaro established the Universal Tile Factory in Walyalup (Fremantle), hand-crafting terrazzo tiles from
vibrant pigments and Italian marble.
Underneath/Overlooked invites you to step into their legacy through silk reproductions of the tile patterns, a hands-on pattern-making game, and photos of
the homes where these tiles live today.
Discover the craft behind these striking designs in this unique exhibition that celebrates the Scolaro family’s role, like many immigrant families, in shaping our
communities and the design history of Western Australia.
