The Road to York Display

Visit the iconic York Town Hall situated on Avon Terrace, York, to see this display showcasing a short history of the Road from Guildford to York from 1831 onwards.

This journey took two to three days back then, passing through convenient watering and camping places. Now, the road to York is a mere 60 minute drive from Guildford, taking the traveler through spectacular scenery as they enter the Wheatbelt.

See an example of a typical carriage from the 1800s and read about 8 locations of historical significance as you consider how travelling means have evolved over the last 200 years.
